A cold but mostly dry and bright day for much of Wednesday. However a band of heavy rain and strong winds will move into Northern Ireland and Scotland during the afternoon, possible gales across the northwest of Scotland.
Tonight:
Rain band moves southeastwards overnight, but clearer spells developing behind in the northwest. Winds remain strong here but slowly easing across the west. Milder than previous nights.
Thursday:
Rain clearing the southeast through the morning, but remaining cloudy for most in the south. Heavy rain moving into the north through the day as winds pick up once again.
Outlook for Friday to Sunday:
Turning more unsettled in the coming days with heavy rain and strong winds at times, particularly into the weekend with gales possible. After a mild few days, turning colder later.
