Rain today focused in west and clearing Argyll late afternoon.
Today:
A cloudy day with occasional rain, this heaviest, most persistent during morning and across the far west, but patchy across Lanarkshire. Cloud and rain clearing Argyll late afternoon. Winds quite strong initially. Maximum Temperature 9C.
Tonight:
Argyll dry during evening with early clear spells, then patchy rain feeding from the west overnight. Elsewhere some patchy rain early evening, otherwise dry but rather cloudy. Strengthening southerly winds. Minimum Temperature -1C.
Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:
Tuesday brings showers, these frequent in Argyll, then gradually improving with Wednesdays showers isolated away from Argyll, then all staying dry for Thursday with good sunny spells developing.
UK Outlook for Thursday 6 Feb 2025 to Saturday 15 Feb 2025:
It is likely to be rather more settled across the UK in this period, especially at first. High pressure will sit close to, or over the UK, and will most likely drift away slowly eastwards with time. Consequently, southern and eastern areas are likely to see the driest conditions, with lightest winds, which could lead to overnight frost and fog with temperatures a little below normal. Further north and west, there is a risk of incursions of Atlantic air and fontal systems at times, which would bring some rain here, but with milder temperatures. There is a very low chance that if the high orientates in such a way that a more easterly (rather than southerly/southeasterly) flow develops, a spell of much colder conditions could develop across the UK.
